THE CARTRON STORY

ABOUT US

OUR VALUES

EXCELLENCE & CRAFTSMANSHIP
We actively select the finest fruit varieties that capture the spirit of Burgundian terroir. Those that are the most aromatic and perfectly encapsulate the unique character of the region. Our detailed operations are carried out in an artisanal fashion, with respect to the family tradition and successful longstanding recipes.
RESPECT OF TERROIR AND
LOCAL PRODUCTION
Joseph Cartron products are authentic traditional Burgundian products: the fruit, the techniques, the terroir – all of these elements are further highlighted by relationships with local producers that go back generations. A real “Art de Vivre” exists in Burgundy and the Joseph Cartron Company is one of its Ambassadors.
PASSION & CREATIVITY
The Crème de Cassis de Bourgogne has always been the anchor of the company. Over the years, Joseph Cartron has added an immense range of liqueurs and the first Vermouths made in Burgundy from Burgundian wine.

Joseph Cartron Company still buys 70% of its fruits in Burgundy.
In order to protect this taste, so specific to Burgundy, Joseph Cartron Company follows the same processes, comparable to the A.O.C. rules (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) in which the terroir, the climate, the exposure of the land, the choice of the fruit varieties and the know-how are all intricately linked.

OUR ICON

Art and literary enthusiast Armand Cartron designed the iconic coat of arms with two unicorns to represent the company in the thirties.

The unicorn is a  symbol of virtue, nobility, feminity, and purity that has been present on numerous coats of arms since the 17th century. It is also an emblematic figure of Burgundy with the tapestry: La Dame à la Licorne at the Cluny Museum.
